We have put together some guide lines for all of our new Elite Force members to help make your first tournament a little easier.

Please take some time to read over this list:

Things to know before your first tournament:

1. You must have a current USA card to wrestle at local USA Wrestling tournaments; you can get this card at http://usawmembership.com. It is a good idea to print out several copies of your card in case you misplace one. You will NOT be able to register at any USA tournament without it.

2. Know your childs age division and weight class.

3. Registration will take place on the tournament's website. Usually they will be found on trackwrestling.com. There will be information on the tournament's website on trackwrestling about weigh-in times, when wrestling starts, as well where you can see your wrestler's bracket. Make sure you are registered under Elite Force.

4. Warm ups for the tournament will take place at the locations wrestling area. Wrestlers will begin warming up one hour prior to the tournament start time.

5. More than likely you will be at the tournament for a while, it’s a good idea to bring lawn chairs, blankets to sit on, a canopy if you have one, healthy snacks and water. There is always a snack bar but they do not have very many healthy options.

6. When you first arrive you will want to check for brackets and find your child’s name, make sure they are in the correct division and weight class. You can also see who they will be wrestling that day. They are usually posted on the wall outside of the gym, and are also almost always posted on the tournament website (trackwrestling or flowrestling)

7. All tournaments are double elimination but please check with a coach before you leave because there are circumstances where your child will wrestle even after two loses.

8. Tournaments use trackwrestling or flowrestling for mat assignments. Use the tournament website and find the mat assignments to find out when and what mat your child is wrestling on. This step may be confusing. Please don't hesitate to ask a coach, another parent, or a tournament official for help.

9. For parents, if you do not have a current USA coaching card you will not be allowed on the mat with your child unless you pay $20 for a coaches band. You will have to ask someone working at the tournament where to buy the band; they are at different locations at every tournament.

10. Once your child is on the mat it will be your responsibility to find a coach from Elite Force to help them, any of them will be happy to help, and will normally already know when your child is up.

11. After the match is over the winner must go up to the table and sign the bout sheet, make sure the correct name is circled as the winner. Once signed you will turn it in to the head table, the table workers can direct you where this is. 12. Have fun and please don’t hesitate to ask a coach or any of the parents from Elite Force for help.

13. What to wear? A singlet and wrestling shoes are best, but local tournaments will allow for T-Shirt and shorts if you don't have a singlet. At certain times of the year you can order an Elite Force Singlet from our website. Amazon.com is also a great place to get one if you order in advance.
